Blood Tests and Investigations

Investigations such as blood tests, ECGs and 24 hour blood pressure monitors are led by our nursing team. Blood tests must be ordered by a GP or consultant.

For your convenience, blood testing is available at the surgery with our practice nurse on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment only.

Because of the large volume of tests done on a weekly basis, it is not possible to contact every patient individually with their results.

We ask patients to contact the surgery themselves 7-10 days after testing to get their results. Please do not call regarding blood results before this time. It is important not to assume that ‘no news is good news’.

Occasionally results are lost or samples not processed by the lab for a variety of reasons and important results can be missed.

The doctors will be in touch if a result requires further or urgent action.

Your GP can only report on results of tests that they have requested or performed for you.

Please note results of tests ordered by consultants do not routinely come back to the surgery.
